Nike Basketball 2015 Elite Collection
As the NBA season winds down and the playoff picture islowly takes shape, Nike Basketball unveils this year's Elite footwear series for three of the brand's signature athletes. While the omission of a Kyrie 1 Elite is a mystery at this point, the latest signature models of Kevin Durant, Kobe Bryant and LeBron James will be reworked to handle the grind of the postseason.
Kobe Bryant's tenth signature shoe under The Swoosh banner came out originally as a low top. But the Elite version goes back to the high-cut Flyknit construction that turned heads when the Kobe 9 Elite dropped. While the Lakers sadly aren't making the playoffs this year, they'll certainly boost the confidence of anybody who shares The Black Mamba's will to win on the court.
With a couple of injury setbacks and with the Oklahoma City Thunder struggling to stay in the playoff race, this season hasn't been the most ideal one for Kevin Durant coming off his MVP year. But should the Thunder's franchise player be ready for the postseason, that's where the KD 7 Elite comes in. With perforations to aid with ventilation and shed extra weight, if the league's reigning MVP doesn't put on a dominant performance in the playoffs, you can't blame the shoes.
With the Cleveland Cavaliers finally clicking, LeBron James is carrying some serious momentum into the postseason. If he manages to bring a championship back to Ohio this season, it'll be in the LeBron 12 Elite, a shoe that delivers all the protection and lockdown of the mainline model, but at a fraction of the weight.
All three Elite models will be dropping in select Nike Basketball retailers sometime in April, with a couple of other colorways for each shoe dropping in the following months.
