Stand proud in these Adidas Stan Smiths

The first ever demonstration for gay rights in America was held in 1965. That same year, Adidas dropped a tennis shoe named after French pro player Robert Haillet. After Haillet's retirement, Adidas pushed on the shoe, then naming it after Stan Smith. And the rest is pretty much history.

In a way, these two separate events come together through a colorful rendition of the Adidas Stan Smith. The classic white and green colorway sets the stage for some vibrant details such as rainbow laces and multi-colored insoles. The paint dripping out the shoe's perforated stripes is a pretty nice touch. There's gotta be some symbolism for coming out and letting your true colors come forth in there somewhere.

While no release date has been announced, word around the net is that these shoes will be dropping sometime in June. Just in time for when a good chunk of American pride events take place.

Adidas Originals x Opening Ceremony Stan Smith "Zebra"

Adidas Originals links up once again with fashion retailer and brand Opening Ceremony to unveil a new design in what's already been a huge year for the Adidas Stan Smith. This time around, the classic tennis sneaker gets dressed up in zebra-inspired striping that offsets its white leather base. The collaborative effort is finished off with the Opening Ceremony logo taking the place of the traditional "Stan Smith" tongue branding, while the Adidas Trefoil keeps its spot on the heel tabs.

There's no exact date to when these shoes will be hitting local retailers, but according to The Sneakpeek, we can expect them dropping very soon.

Now Available: Adidas Stan Smith "Reflective Pack"

The classic leather upper of tennis legend Stan Smith's signature shoe gets swapped out for 3M reflective material with these two releases from Adidas. Seen in both silver and black colorways, both shoes employ snakeskin detailing as a nice contrast with the flashy uppers. Both styles are now available locally at Adidas retailers such as Urban Athletics in Greenbelt 3 for the price of P4995.

Adidas Originals Stan Smith "Reflective"

In what's already been a solid year for the Adidas Stan Smith, the perennial tennis classic gets another material makeover.

This time, reflective 3M material dresses up the silhouette, while leaving room for few nifty details added on such as rope laces, contrast stitching near the forefoot areas, and a snakeskin textured heel tab to join in the mix. The combination of materials has all the trappings of a pretty flashy shoe, both literally and figuratively.

For those who can't wait to get their hands on a pair, better hook up with some UK connects, as size? already has them in stock. No word on local release details as of yet, but stay tuned to the blog for any updates.

Adidas Stan Smith Primeknit

Since its return to the retail front early this year, the Adidas Stan Smith has been getting a good share of mentions up in this space. And for good reason, as these tennis classics fall into the esteemed category of sneakers that enjoy widespread appeal among core sneaker collectors and the fashion conscious set. As the halfway point of 2014 comes around, a fair amount of colorways and brand collaborations have hit the market. It's been released in a couple of different materials as well, but none quite like this one.

Judging from these images that recently hit the net, the Primeknit Stan Smiths put out a literal new spin on the heritage model. Save for some minor tweaks in the heel area, the fully knitted upper doesn't deviate from the shape of the original model too much to cause an uproar from purists. Despite the change in construction, the signature perforated three-stripe branding is still visible. And despite the knit sneaker conversation being dominated by another brand (hint: rhymes with "slyknit"), reinvigorating old things with new ways of thinking is always a welcome idea.

There's no release date yet, but stick with the blog as more information is sure to come down the pipeline eventually. In the meantime, you can check out more looks after the jump.
