Since its return to the retail front early this year, the Adidas Stan Smith has been getting a good share of mentions up in this space. And for good reason, as these tennis classics fall into the esteemed category of sneakers that enjoy widespread appeal among core sneaker collectors and the fashion conscious set. As the halfway point of 2014 comes around, a fair amount of colorways and brand collaborations have hit the market. It's been released in a couple of different materials as well, but none quite like this one.
Judging from these images that recently hit the net, the Primeknit Stan Smiths put out a literal new spin on the heritage model. Save for some minor tweaks in the heel area, the fully knitted upper doesn't deviate from the shape of the original model too much to cause an uproar from purists. Despite the change in construction, the signature perforated three-stripe branding is still visible. And despite the knit sneaker conversation being dominated by another brand (hint: rhymes with "slyknit"), reinvigorating old things with new ways of thinking is always a welcome idea.
There's no release date yet, but stick with the blog as more information is sure to come down the pipeline eventually. In the meantime, you can check out more looks after the jump.
