Adidas Football made waves last year when the brand announced that it would be discontinuing iconic football boots such as the Predator to be replaced with what the brand saw as shoes for two types of players on the pitch. While the strategy has worked for most, it looks like the brand is going all in as they unveiled the next iteration of the Adidas Ace boots.

Made for players who like to control all aspects of the game, the Ace 16+ PureControl is a dynamic knitted boot with a high collar that might remind some of the Nike Magista. Adidas goes one step further by removing the laces to ensure only the purest of ball feel when it comes to both dribbling and striking. A while back, it was announced that New Balance would be entering the football shoe market, aiming to challenge established names like Adidas and Nike. It took a while, but New Balance Football is finally in the country. The brand's initial offering comes in the form of two shoes - the Visaro and the Furon. The former is ideal for players who like to make chances, while the latter is for those who like taking them. Make of that what you will. Adidas Overhauls Football Shoe Line

A few days before Nike unveiled the brand's latest football boot, the folks at Adidas announced they were rebooting (pun totally intended) their football shoe program. That means after a tremendous run of success, the Adidas Predator, 11Pro, Nitrocharge and F50 Adizero are going bye bye. Replacing them will be two boots that cater to two different kids of players, regardless of what position on the field they may play.


While no official reveals have been made the names of the two boots are the Ace and the X. The former is made for the player who likes to control the game, while the latter seems ideal for the player who enjoys creating chaos on the pitch for those tasked to defend him or her. New Balance Enters The Football Shoe Market

After months of speculation, New Balance is officially entering the football shoe market to. This means that the iconic running shoe brand will be relieving Warrior of the label's football shoe and apparel duties. New Balance Football will soon be getting some visibility on the pitches of some of Europe's best clubs as the brand will be producing the kits of Liverpool, Sevilla, Porto and other clubs. In addition, the brand will also be releasing a new line of footwear which will be seen on the feet of former Warrior-contracted players like Vincent Kompany and Marouanne Fellaini, as well as a host of new signees as well. Only time will tell if the New Balance brand will come to rival established brands like Nike, Adidas, and Puma for pitch dominance. But in the meantime, expect the kits to debut come the 2015/16 season, while the first salvo of New Balance Football boots is expected to release sometime in Spring.

The Nike Magista has been Revealed

The material made its first foray into the world of basketball with the release of the Kobe IX Elite last month. And now, look for it to head to the pitch with the unveiling of the Nike Magista.

Although it doesn't hold the distinction of being the first football shoe to employ a knitted upper, it doesn't really matter. Flyknit's still the material that makes athletes, sneakerheads, and menswear bros alike collectively cream their pants. I haven't played a serious game of football in a couple of years, but just looking at the shoes makes me wish I still did.
