With the NBA season well underway, the 12th sneaker in LeBron James' Nike signature line has enjoyed a ton of visibility on the feet of King James himself. While its local launch happened very recently, it looks like Nike is going full speed with three new LeBron 12 colorways slated to drop over the course of the holiday season.
Each colorway is inspired by sports science. Specifically, all the number crunching and data gathering that grounds just how fast, strong, and explosive LeBron James is when he's on the court. In terms of storytelling, the inspiration points are pretty novel, and the execution as a whole plays rather well with the futuristic design of the LeBron 12 silhouette. The LEBRON 12 is designed and engineered to maximize LeBron James’s strength, speed and versatility. His rare skill set requires pinnacle footwear innovation that Nike Basketball combines with distinct naratives that highlight various aspects of James’s game and personality.
The LEBRON 12 was born in the “lab,” where data and analysis determined the need for advanced cushioning, support and flexibility. This story comes to life in three new colorways led by the LEBRON 12 NSRL:
LEBRON 12 "NSRL"
Inspired by the shoe’s genesis in the Nike Explore Team Sport Research Lab, the shoe features performance technology built for James. His multidimensional skills require cushioning and support that’s second-to-none. The Sport Research Lab provides the Nike Basketball design team with in-depth analysis on athletic performance and scientific testing.

LEBRON 12 "Data"
Basketball has become a statistically-driven sport with athletes, coaches and pundits closely monitoring player efficiency. James is arguably the most versatile player in the game today, with the statistics to support that claim. This colorway is a nod to LeBron’s amazing efficiency on the court and ability to win with balanced statistics: scoring, rebounding, assists shot blocking — just to name a few.

Many look at James as the athlete of the future combining speed, agility and strength rarely seen in the sport. Inspired by James’s legendary work ethic and physical gifts, this colorway encapsulates No. 23’s rare skill set.
