Nike SB x Jordan Brand is happening.

After the much-anticipated release of the Nike SB x Diamond Supply Dunk Highs earlier this month, it seemed like the hype for Nike SB would die down pretty quickly. But in true Nike fashion, they pull out another surprise that's sure to get people talking: Nike SB x Jordan Brand.

We've seen Nike SB releases inspired by the Jordan line before, but none of them were part of an official collaborative effort between the two lines. A casual observer would be quick to question the place of Michael Jordan and his namesake brand in skateboarding. But if you look at what skaters in the past were rocking, you'd be surprised that a number of them actually adapted the OG Air Jordan 1s for skating. So it makes a lot of sense that Nike SB and Jordan Brand chose to work on MJ's first signature shoe for the release.

Details of the actual collaboration are scant. As of now, there's just a release date, and a shot of Paul Rodriguez (no stranger to Jordan-inspired SBs) catching air off a ramp in what looks to be a basketball court. You can't make out a lot of details of the shoes P.Rod's wearing, but I can only hope that they bring out them in the traditional high cut instead of a mid.

March 15 is the release date, so it won't be too long from now. I'll make sure to post any updates regarding the collaboration and how you can pick you a pair locally once I hear of anything!

Could you imagine doing stuff like this to your 1s?
UPDATE 2/28/14:

Official images of the first Nike SB Air Jordan 1 have released! Personally, I'm happy they went with the high cut version. Three colorways of the collab are expected to release, but the the one in the photos below was done by one of the OGs of skate art, Craig Stecyk. A mix of green and black make up the upper with the words "AJ ONE SB" done up in Stecyk's signature tribal writing on the heel. Thoughts? Feel free to leave them in the comments below and stay tuned for any local release info.
